Saturday stroll to Robin Hoods Bay, approx 7.5 miles, catch a bus back or maybe walk back along the cinder track. Meet at 10 am near the YHA gates.
Sunday walk to Staithes and catch the bus back, meet at the bandstand at 10am .
All the pubs will have live Folk Music all weekend, it's not really my thing but I'm willing to endure it.
I'll be meeting in The Endeavour pub on the Friday at about 7.30pm
If anyone wants to add anything for Friday or Monday daytime feel free.

Great Adam, it used to be a great OD weekend this did, hope you get a few on this, old and new ODears, not sure if I can get, I've got a lot of organising to do for the following weekend, (14 of us on a sponsored walk to skeg)
amandy m on 22/07/24 @ 20:21andy m: good luck with that mate, a few oldies are coming, Dale is sorting accommodation as we speak and Julie (Busybee) sent me a nice message earlier.
ʎʎqnᴚ on 22/07/24 @ 21:00Sounds like a great weekend, does anyone know of a camp site nearby where I can park my van?
JohnH on 23/07/24 @ 8:34JohnH: John, suggest you look at this, I have walked through it one time and it looked good.
waLezW on 23/07/24 @ 11:51https://www.whitbypark.co.uk/. Robin hoods bay is south of this.
Coordinates 54.48516, -0.59006. Maybe you could join the walk at this place or nearby, all you need a meet point coordinate. (YHA is coming up near the Abbey, if that's right then its not far from this site)
LezW: Thanks, I've been having a look and there's quite a few sites nearby. The only thing that's holding me back is that I'd recent tests at the local hospital and I'm still waiting on the results, so it's kind of depending on these results and what treatment they're going to do that will depend on whether I can make it or not. Anyhoo, I'll wait a wee bit and see, thanks again, John.
JohnH on 23/07/24 @ 12:20JohnH: there is a pop up campsite, across Rd from the Abbey, no showers just porta loos!
amandy m on 23/07/24 @ 12:51Thanks Andy, as above, it all may depend on what I get back from the hospital, but 🤞
JohnH on 23/07/24 @ 14:05And if I can make it, it would be great if you could too, long time no see!!
JohnH: I'll try to get for the full weekend, but failing that, I'll get for at least one of the walks, and pitch my steel tent in my usual spot for a night!
amandy m on 23/07/24 @ 14:12Will be great to see you too John.
I've had a look at the Whitypark site but it's £50 per night for a grass pitch 😨 even in Snowdonia which is expensive £35 per night was the maximum, so I'll have a look at some others
on 23/07/24 @ 19:57I've now booked the Abbey Farm Showfield, arriving on the Friday and heading home on the Monday. Let's hope that we get decent weather 🤞😀
on 24/07/24 @ 7:36andy m: hi Andy, I think that that's the one I've booked into
JohnH on 24/07/24 @ 18:35I'm on board, hope to see some of the old crowd, and newbies that weekend, if you've never been, the folk bands, perform in the pubs. You can book to see some bands that are in the bigger rooms, but the entertainment in the pubs is excellent!
amandy m on 24/07/24 @ 22:13I'm booked in b n b The Windmill Inn, its about 45 mins walk to The Endeavour so expect me to be late.
ʎʎqnᴚ on 26/07/24 @ 20:46I've booked 2 nights at the Abbey field showground. May also stay Sunday night. Just back home after 3 months overseas so looking forward to OD hikes again!
Wild Adventuress on 27/07/24 @ 20:09Wild Adventuress: Hi, I hope that your big vogage went well and we can catch up on this weekend and as above I'm booked in till the Monday
JohnH on 27/07/24 @ 22:33JohnH: thanks, I've had an amazing time!! Knee still playing up a year after the Alps accident but has certainly improved whilst I've been away, and I've managed to hike up steep volcanic island mountains!
on 09/08/24 @ 9:06See you soon!
I've also sent off for the folk week programme and may stay longer with my concertina in hand!
Wild Adventuress on 09/08/24 @ 11:32Wild Adventuress: I'm booked in till the Monday when I'll have to head home. As always I'll have my guitar in my van. I've booked EHU for my van so that gives me the use of electic kettle, toaster and microwave so along with my two ring gas stove you are very welcome to use these cooking facilities at anytime.
JohnH on 09/08/24 @ 19:21I intend to get there by lunch time, what time are you intending to arrive, cheers, John.
Hi John
Wild Adventuress on 10/08/24 @ 18:02Thought I'd replied once but can't see it anywhere!
I'm dog sitting at daughters in Bangor this, week so driving up Friday
4.5 hours so likely early afternoon if the roads are okay. See you soon.
😀
andy m: Hi, the facilities in my van as detailed to Penny above are obviously there for you too, cheers, John.
on 10/08/24 @ 20:48Wild Adventuress: I've just checked my route planner and it's a 4 hour drive for me so like you depending on traffic it'll probably be early afternoon too.
JohnH on 10/08/24 @ 22:36I'll look out for your van. I can't always access OD site when away from home for some strange reason. But if I can I'll let you know I've arrived and pitching tent!!
on 13/08/24 @ 9:06I think I may stay longer as various workshops I'd like to join. And tempted by folk club on Sat night as run by Alistair Anderson who I've known for over 30 years!
Wild Adventuress on 13/08/24 @ 9:09Wild Adventuress: Hi, you can't miss my van now that I've got new signs on the sides with a big "MacCamperVan" on them 🙂😂😂
JohnH on 13/08/24 @ 20:15Also, not knowing much about folk music I'll happily go along to whatever, I just enjoy any music that's well done.
JohnH: Alistair is famous concertina and pipe musician, composer, and started up the Folk Traditional Music course at University of Northumbria.
Wild Adventuress on 13/08/24 @ 21:42I used to go to many folk festivals in my 20s but not recently.
See you soon. P
JohnH: Hi John- did you find a camp site?
SMSaltyMcSaltface on 15/08/24 @ 22:55See you all in the Endeavour, later!
amandy m on 16/08/24 @ 7:54I've booked a b n b in town, so I shouldn't be too late.
