I'm travelling to and will be based near Wick, Kirkwall and Lerwick to walk three more of the UK's 91 old county tops and to explore some of what else these three areas have to offer eg other walks, bird reserves, most northerly golf course, archaeological sites, the Shetland folk festival and so on.
OD members are most welcome to join up with me during any of the days I'm there and plan joint activities. The days ex arriving and leaving inclusive are Wick 11-15 April, Kirkwall 16-24 April, Lerwick 25 April - 5 May 2025.
Members will arrange own transport and accommodation as needed/ desired. I will have a car which seats driver + 6 to get around at the locations and there's plenty of other transport on/ between the islands.
Please message to meet once at a location. No need to contact beforehand unless you wish. Will be fun!

Sounds very good and interesting I look at my diary, thanks for idea. I think my friends play at a music festival in Shetland of have.
FFidI’ll be busy playing at the Shetland Folk Festival so no opportunity for walks but it would be nice to fit in a wee dram at some point! What an interesting job you have to take you to all those places!
on 08/02/25 @ 6:30PS for anyone thinking of joining you in Shetland accommodation is like absolute gold dust and gets booked up a year in advance. Great youth hostel in Lerwick if you can get in.
Interesting
gogoing4goldMorven, 706m, enormous, volcano-like, an iconic mountain, the top of Caithness. 8km walk in, broadly level, concluded by brutally steep slope much of which is pathless and strewn with obstacles. Toil is worth it for stunning open views of NE towards Orkney. (Jonny Muir)
on 10/02/25 @ 17:24Fiddle: got the membership ticket for early bird discounted tickets! What shows might I go to? "Yes" to the wee dram.... if after you've performed... ha ha..... Let's try and do that! Thanks.
on 12/02/25 @ 19:52And got the big 30% ferry discount that comes with the £20 membership too! A sweet surprise.
